For a fusion of fantastic facilities and experienced steeds ...
Wilder Ways join forces with Lindores Equestrian & Cross Country
Explore the wonderful historical landscape of the Tay Valley and the fantastic equestrian facilities on offer at Lindores with one of our experienced Wilder Ways herd.
These are experiences for riders without a horse to enjoy some of the perks and opportunities normally only available to horse owners.
You can bond over trail rides, show jumping and cross country from the comfort of a well-trained horse with the support of our encouraging and experienced guides. Whether you are looking to boost your confidence, push yourself to new limits or just enjoy some serious horse play, we have an experience for you.
From September 16th to October 6th Wilder Ways will be taking up residence at Lindores Equestrian, in Fife to enjoy the extensive facilities on offer. We will trail ride through the beautiful landscape of Scotland’s largest river, the Tay, with its rich and colourful history including (to mention just a couple) the site of William Wallace’s last big victory and the 12thC Lindores Abbey, which spurred the growth of Newburgh to service the monks. We will also offer special jumping experience days around the extensive facilities at Lindores including a 60m x 40m show jumping arena and a 100 jump cross-country course over 80 acres. We will also offer opportunities for guests to sample the local cultural delights of the area and its luxurious hospitality with like-minded folk on one of our immersive short break riding holidays.
During our stay at Lindores we will be offering a range of products from 1 hour jumping lessons to all-inclusive short break riding holidays. Please see below for the details and dates for our riding holidays (short breaks) and experience days schedule. Bespoke trips made up of multiple days may also be available by arrangement.

Description
Do something for you – get back that buzz from your teens or achieve something you perhaps previously only dared to believe you could. You can!
Trusting the unknown (us & the Herd) takes a leap of faith, but one thing is for sure, if you don’t jump, you’ll never fly! This is your opportunity.
This experience is all about YOU. Yes, you are part of a group (up to a maximum of 6 riders) but this is a supportive environment allowing you to ride at your level and to take from this experience what you need. Over the course of the three days you will receive support, tuition and the opportunity to set your own goals. This short break is designed to increase your confidence, build on your existing riding skills and gently push you to new heights (literally and figuratively).
The Ride
Day 1 you will enjoy a morning of trail riding through the glorious historical Tay Valley. Relax and familiarise yourself with your horse over the undulating terrain and begin to test your partnership at different paces in the wide-open countryside. We will spend the afternoon in the show jumping arena to get you and your horse comfortable over the fences and to polish the finesse between you.
Day 2 will build on the progress of day 1, taking you back through your paces in the arena in the morning to ensure you are ready to enjoy the cross-country course. After lunch we will spend the afternoon exploring the extensive cross-country course where there are fences for every ability. The program is tailored to your needs and is intended to leave you with a great sense of personal achievement.
Day 3 you will complete a full round show jumping course in the morning. This is your chance to showcase the partnership you have created with your horse and the heights (!) you can achieve together. After lunch we will return to the cross-country course for you to expand your jumping repertoire and push yourself out of your comfort zone to a place you are proud of. This short break, your leap of faith in yourself, and your trust in the Wilder Ways herd and us, will see you reach limits you had previously only dared to believe you could. This is your moment to shine.
This itinerary is an example - exact routes may change due to weather, or other factors.
We encourage you to get your ‘hands dirty’ and look after your horse during this adventure as if it were your own. Don’t worry, we will support you to do this.

This day is designed to give you an experience often only available to horse owners.
The Ride
During the morning session you will receive a 1 hour show jumping lesson in the 60m x 40m outdoor arena. This will enable you to get to grips with your new horse and polish off your finesse around the show jumps before you tackle the less forgiving cross-country fences. In particular, we will focus on speed and rhythm, approach lines, canter leads and your jumping position.
During lunch we will have a ‘wash up’ of the mornings lesson and you will have chance to ask any questions you may have about your horse, the morning session or what to expect for the remainder of the day.
In the afternoon we will head onto the 80-acre cross country course. We will start by getting you comfortable over the range of different fence types before putting together some small courses of fences. There are jumps of all heights from 20cm – 1.10m so this session will be tailored to your ability.
At the end of the day, we will again come together for a cuppa and a ‘wash up’ where we will share videos and photos we have taken on you throughout the day. This will give you a great record of your achievements of the day.
We encourage you to get your ‘hands dirty’ and look after your horse during the day as if it were your own. Don’t worry, we will support you to do this.
