Clinics
Learning is one of our Core Values at Wilder Ways and, especially when working with horses, there is no doubt that every day is a school day for us all. We like to keep ourselves up to date with our own training and also share this with you guys. As such, each year, we invite a well known character from the horse world to impart their wisdom and experience to us all. To date we’ve enjoyed Vladimir Mustakerski from Bulgaria and Sean Coleman from Northamptonshire and we look forward to welcoming Ed Dabney from the USA as soon as we can. |
If you have a passion for learning and building your relationship with your horse to the next level, then please join us on our clinics which were all first-time exclusives for Scotland – something we are very proud of. If you are someone with a keen interest but do not have your own horse – worry not – you can borrow one of the Wilder Ways herd. And if you want to know more but are not yet ready to participate yourself, you can come to any of our clinics as a spectator so you don’t have to miss a thing. If horsemanship is in your heart, we also highly recommend the Horsemanship Showcase in Leighton Buzzard (29th-30th 2024) which Nikki & Cara attend each year and would love to see you there. Adventure Summary
Horsemanship is an inextricable part of every moment we even think horse. It’s not just how we interact with our horses, it’s how we think about them, how we observe them and how we try to decipher them. It’s not a separate discipline, it’s a way of thinking, a way of being, all of the time. Like any knowledge or skill, we can only improve it and make it habit if we proactively learn, train and practice. So here is your chance to top up your horsemanship, wherever your starting point. Since Nikki attended one of Sean’s Horsemanship Immersion Clinics and we started following him each year at the Horsemanship Showcase, we were sold! Sean is not only accomplished with horses, he is a joy to watch in a way that is infectious, and he is an incredibly good teacher with people. We were determined to bring Sean to Scotland and were so excited to finally see him here at Wilder Ways in May 2023 and he did not disappoint. The theory was mind-blowingly eye opening. A lot of ‘aha’ moments were had by all. And the practical time spent with the horses was excellent, Sean working closely with each rider and horse independently and together as was required. From trailer loading, motivation, dealing with a confident extrovert and rebreaking a 15 year-old to everything in between. It was incredible what can be covered in just 2 days, learning not only from our own individual scenarios but also from watching each other work with Sean. We cannot recommend him highly enough, and are delighted he’s coming back again in May 2024! Whether this is your first encounter with Sean’s work, or you joined us in May 2023, this is an exclusive opportunity for Scotland and one not to be missed. |
Sean Coleman
Sean is an equine behaviourist helping people understand not only why horses do what they do, but how to effect it. He is a 3* Parelli Professional and was one of Pat’s apprentices. Currently Sean studies with Mike Bridges, master of true California style Bridle Horse tradition.
Sean’s focus is purpose-based horsemanship and combines his passion for western performance and bridle horses with natural horsemanship and classical dressage. Sean believes horsemanship is a philosophy that is the corner stone for all disciplines and his goal is to share knowledge, understanding and compassion for the horse whilst still getting great results. |
Itinerary
This 2-day learning adventure will be tailored to the needs of each participant. The days are split into introductions and demonstrations from Sean as well as working with your own horse. Over the 2 days you will be taught exercises specific to the needs of you and your horse, with plenty of opportunities to practice these on your own and 1:1 with Sean. Sean will spend time working directly on your horse as well as with you, so you will get the benefit of his horse development skills as well as horsemanship training. Whether you have a specific problem with your horse, want to improve your relationship or develop your skills, this clinic is a safe space rich in knowledge. If you are a newbie to horsemanship or very experienced, there is much to gain from time with Sean. This clinic is open to people with or without their own horse as Wilder Ways horses will be available for hire as required. It is also available to locals and visitors as accommodation can be provided at Wilder Ways, giving you even more time with Sean around the dinner table. This clinic is set to be enlightening and fulfilling experience with like-minded people. Previous Clinics
Vladimir Mustakerski - Be with Me
Since we first trained with Vladimir in Bulgaria in February 2019, we have been hungry for more and so we were over the moon to bring him to Scotland in April 2022 to share him with you on our home soil.
If you dream of a way to achieve a seamless connection between you and your horse, just like the mythical ‘Centaur’ – this was your chance. This was the ultimate personal development journey that your horse even thanked you for! For our first clinic at Wilder Ways and Vladimir’s first ever clinic in the UK, it was lovely to welcome so many of you either with your own horses or borrowing some of our herd. |
