Another fantastic season down!
As we are writing this, we are nearly at the end of our 2023 holiday season. What an amazing year it has been filled with so many great times and some brilliant memories! Here is a look back at our best bits and what we got up to..
Our year here started off with us purchasing Ebony, a sweet 3 year-old Welsh D filly, in February. She's settled right in with the herd, particularly the young ones. We hosted our first working holiday in March, where we invited a handful of previous guests back to the farm to work with us for a week. The horses got some excellent training and pampering time and in return our guests stayed in our Glen Kerran farmhouse, eating delicious meals and getting high quality horse time with some great learning opportunities! It went so well, that we decided to do it again - see our Wilder Working Week page for dates and more details.
And just like that - it was opening time again! But not without the help of our newest staff member Hilary joining us on the yard (and her horse Rio joining the herd!). We ran our first action adventure holiday in April which went stunningly well, filled with beach rides, cross country jumping and archery.
In May, we hosted Sean Coleman here at the farm for his first ever horsemanship clinic in Scotland which was enjoyed by everyone who took part and we are so happy to be welcoming him back in 2024 - see here for details.
At the end of June, we all got a massive surprise when Usige decided to give birth to a beautiful foal - Dàrna. It seems Sirocco (who would only have been just over a year old) has become a Dad! Both foal and mum are doing great.
After hosting quite a few really successful bespoke family holidays this year, we finally decided to make an official holiday dedicated solely for families - where we are offering a ‘pick n’ mix’ format that is unique and tailored to your family. For more info see our Wilder Families page.
We also hosted 2 Wild Women trips again this year which were really successful - we look forward to hosting more in 2024!
And just when we thought all of the excitement was over, Nikki and Cara came across a teeny tiny kitten on the road in mid September who is now the newest member of the Wilder Ways family - Smoky Joe! You can see him here under 'The Cats'.
Now, we close our doors from early October to March 2024. We will be opening next year with another new holiday - action packed with every experience your wildest dreams could imagine. This is THE horse-riding adventure in Scotland for any fanatical rider: Our Ultimate Horse Adventure holiday.
Thank you all for another amazing year, we can't wait to see you back again next year (and in Knoydart too!).
