Itinerary

Day 1.  Arrive at the farm late afternoon in time to settle before dinner at 7pm.  Relax into your surroundings, and let the banter start flowing.  Share your own horse history and set your wish list for the week.

Day 2.  The week will start with a morning in the arena including horsemanship groundwork and ridden flat work.  This will allow you to start to build a relationship with your new steed, forming a solid foundation for the week ahead.  After lunch, take that newfound friendship and test it over an afternoon hack above the farm.  Get familiar with your steed over diverse terrain and start to get a sense of the adventures your hosts have in store for you over the rest of the week!
Day 3.  We will hit the hills with a big full-day trail ride across the countryside, giving you chance to bond with your horse and enjoy wide open views.  Navigate wild terrain and natural obstacles as we traverse the peninsula east to west and along one of its highest ridges.  Be prepared for a long day in the saddle, this day is truly the “Call of the Wild”.

Day 4.  Head for the coast.  Feel the wind in your hair and the salty, sandy air in your face as hooves thunder down the beach. There is nothing quite like the feeling of freedom and pure joy as horse and rider gun down the sand without a worry in the world.  Be prepared for the taste of some of that sand as the racing heats up.  This day epitomises the “Thunder of Hooves; The Pound of your Heart”.  For those not yet comfortable with gallop, do not worry, speed on the beach is optional.  At a slower pace, you can enjoy the tranquillity and sparkle of this stunning coastline.

Day 5.  Take a rest day off the horses and enjoy a magical tour up the east of Kintyre.  Your characterful host, Emma, will take you to explore the fascinating history of Saddell Castle and a walk along the very beach where Paul McCartney’s Mull of Kintyre music video was shot.  Then head to Emma’s home, Torrisdale Castle, for a tour of the grounds and lunch in their café.  Spend the afternoon at gin school, tasting and blending your very own bespoke gin.  Enjoy the Ardshiel Hotel for dinner, complete with its award-winning whisky bar, the perfect place to end the day, full of a great taste of Kintyre – literally and figuratively.

Day 6.  Time to channel your inner warrior.  Nothing can prepare you for the thrill and satisfaction of shooting arrows from a running horse.  It connects you to our warrior past in a way that is both feral and exhilarating.  Spend the morning practicing ground archery, before putting this together on your trusted steed after a farmhouse lunch and a quick makeover!

Day 7.   On our final day we ride
southwards to the very end of the peninsula to enjoy the views to Northern Ireland.  We will ride a series of beaches, each very different from the other, spotting for seals and fishing seabirds along the way.  We will paddle in the turquoise waters of a sandy bay and even take the horses for a swim if the weather and tides allow.  The last chance to blast away any cobwebs and top up your personal empowerment.  As this is the final riding day, we will ride the horses' home to the farm for their last supper with you.  On a complete high, come together for a final night of fine dining with your hosts to share the best tales of your adventure.

Day 8.  After breakfast it's time to say goodbye as we wave you off to your pastures new.

Riders must be fit and adventurous as well as competent riders, at least to rising trot.  Cantering and galloping are optional.  No prior archery experience is necessary.  The order of activities may alter depending on weather and tides.
