We welcome you to bring your own horse on our adventures. Availability will be subject to suitability so please contact us to discuss your circumstances and to receive a quotation. Typically you will receive a 15-20% discount on the riding costs of the adventure for using your own horse.
If you horse is well mannered, experienced and fit and able to complete the adventure, you can join most of our trips, subject to availability.
If your horse is ‘a work in progress’ (i.e. not always well mannered, inexperienced or unfit) we would still welcome you to join us, but would tailor the trip to ensure the routes were appropriate and that you and your horse received sufficient support to make sure the trip is a successful learning experience. Check out our Case Studies to see the kind of horses that have joined us for a learning adventure. Depending on circumstances (i.e. if we cannot maintain the safety or enjoyment of other riders) this may result in an exclusive trip, in which case a price supplement may apply.
In order for your horse to join our adventure, it must be in good health, condition and wellbeing and be fit to complete the distances and pace of the proposed adventure. We ask that your horse meets the following criteria.

In order for your horse to join our adventure, it must be in good health, condition and wellbeing and be fit to complete the distances and pace of the proposed adventure. We ask that your horse meets the following criteria.
- Insured – You must hold at least public liability insurance for your horse.
- Vaccination – Your horse must have a valid tetanus an equine flu vaccination.
- Wormed – Your horse must be appropriately protected against worms (i.e. either wormed or worm count to confirm no worming required).
- Shod – For our Riding Holidays your horse must be shod. We ride in diverse and challenging terrain with rapidly changing surfaces and we have found hoof boots to be ineffective in these environments (i.e. they fall off, or need frequent adjustment, which can mar the experience for other riders).
- Equipment – You will be expected to provide all necessary equipment for you and your horse during the ride. We can provide hay and standard concentrate feed.
- Fencing – Your horse must be used to (and respect) electric fencing.
- Strangles Test - You must provide evidence that your horse has recently passed a strangles test -(i.e. negative result) since it was last exposed to any new horses.
As I am sure you can appreciate, we are very conscious to ensure we do not allow any transfer of disease, infection or illness between visiting horses and our precious herd. We therefore ask that you do not let your horse make contact with our horses during the ride. Your horse will be kept separate from ours for overnights in an electric fenced corral.
