Adventure Summary
This holiday includes 5 full (high octane) days riding and 1 non-riding adventure day, plus 7 nights all inclusive accommodation. This is an action packed and personal growth adventure for the competent and adrenaline seeking equestrian.
Over these 5 days of riding you will cram in our most adventurous activities whilst also challenging and developing your existing horsemanship. This action-packed week will leave you feeling exhilarated, inspired and in love with your horse as you build a trusting relationship and test each others boundaries. Horse activities will include horsemanship, mountain riding, a beach gallop, horseback archery and cross-country jumping. You will spend the rest day by boat and by dram! You’ll stay in our remote, 150 year old characterful Scottish farmhouse and feast on delicious homegrown and local produce morning, noon and night. Just bring your brave pants and your thirst for adventure and leave the rest up to us. |
Day 3. We will hit the hills with a big full-day trail ride across the countryside, giving you chance to bond with your horse and enjoy wide open views whilst riding at pace to test out your cross-country position. This day is truly the “Call of the Wild”.
Day 4. Head for the coast. Feel the wind in your hair and the salty, sandy air in your face as hooves thunder down the beach. There is nothing quite like the feeling of freedom and pure joy as horse and rider gun down the sand without a worry in the world. Be prepared for the taste of some of that sand as the racing heats up. This day epitomises the “Thunder of Hooves; The Pound of your Heart”. |
ItineraryDay 1. Arrive at the farm late afternoon in time to settle before dinner at 7pm. Settle into your surroundings, and let the banter start flowing. Share your own horse history and set your wish list for the week.
Day 2. The week will start with a morning in the arena including horsemanship groundwork and ridden flat work. This will allow you to start to build a relationship with your new steed, forming a solid foundation for the week ahead. After lunch, take that newfound friendship and test it over a fast-paced hack above the farm. Get a taste of your steeds’ paces and enjoy the first rumbles of thundering hooves. |
Day 5. The rest day, but not too much rest for the wicked. Even today will be action-packed with adventure as well as epic taste sensations. After breakfast, you will head to Campbeltown to hit the sea with even more horsepower aboard a rib with Haydn and Tracy of Mull of Kintyre Sea Adventures. This is an exhilarating trip around the local islands in search of spectacular wildlife in a stunning seascape, all the while with a healthy dose of salty sea spray in your face. Back on dry land enjoy some brief civilisation with afternoon ‘Tea on the Quay’. Fueled up, head to Springbank Distillery for your next taste sensation, which they’ve been making at the same site for nearly 200 years! Warmed with a dram or two, you can enjoy the bright lights of Campbeltown before a gastronomic adventure at No. 42 Restaurant. Return home to the farm to catch some well-earned sleep before the next horse adventure begins.
Day 6. Time to channel your inner warrior. Nothing can prepare you for the thrill and satisfaction of shooting arrows from a running horse. It connects you to our warrior past in a way that is both feral and exhilarating. Spend the morning practicing ground archery, before putting this together on your trusted steed after a farmhouse lunch and a quick makeover!
Day 7. The last day in the saddle brings everything together in a grand finale, our ‘leap of faith’ jumping day. Start the morning in the arena with show jumps to hone your skills and confidence before the thrill of an afternoon around our brand new cross-country course – heart pounding, hooves thundering, empowering the will of your new herd of two. On a complete high, come together for a final night of fine dining with your hosts to share the best tales of your adventure.
Day 8. After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye as we wave you off to your pastures new.
Riders must be fit and adventurous as well as competent riders. However, no prior jumping or archery experience is necessary. The order of activities may alter depending on weather and tides.
Please note for all jumping you are advised to wear an in-standard back protector. This will not be provided by Wilder Ways. If you choose to jump without one, you do so at your own risk.
